– Feeling like a Medusa –

2016 – Graphite on paper – 11in x 14in

Inspired by emotional struggles and the negative reactions it generates.

I was really intrigued with using the concept of medusa in this piece since the myth is, she turned those who gazed in her eyes to stone. The idea is basically when we are hurt, we also hurt others and our emotional connection turns cold towards them. The hair was created to mimic the likeness of the medusa snake hair and the glossy, dark eyes are meant to symboilize the stone cold reaction; the dark behavior we suddenly exhibit.

Part of my series of pencil drawings about self-reflection, an exploration of internal conflicts.

Let’s build something together.
